Top 3 Design Trends to Watch from High Point Market

Greetings, Everyone! My name is Lori. I am a junior designer at Justine Sterling Design, and I am taking over the JSD blog to share a bit more about my trip to High Point Market this Spring!

High Point Market is the largest home furnishings trade show in the world—yes, you read that correctly—the world. It's our go-to destination for connecting with industry peers, discovering the latest furniture trends and collections, and delving into the design innovations offered by key vendors. While exploring this year's Spring market, I found many intriguing styles and trends, but three stood out the most (to me, at least!).

Find #1: Metal Accents

Metal accents have long been a staple in furniture, whether through drawer hardware, table legs, or nail heads. This year, however, we're witnessing a surge in unique metal accents that are truly making a statement!

From metal joints integrated into pieces like the dining chair showcased below to intricate metal inlays adorning bedframes, these accents offer not only a bold contrast but also a touch of refinement to modern interiors. Their versatility allows them to seamlessly enhance a range of decor styles, from minimalist to eclectic, adding a sophisticated edge wherever they're featured.

Find #2: Textured Lighting

When it comes to coastal lighting, textural accents such as abaca rope and or woven rattan have long been crowd favorites. But this year, we are seeing a rise in more intricate accents in lighting fixtures, such as shades made of wooden beads entwined together or chandeliers made of carefully woven shells. Check out the texture finds from our previous visit here.

Find #3: Fully Upholstered Furniture

Mixing materials can enhance furniture by adding contrast and interest, but it's not always necessary to create an impactful design. For example, the fully upholstered game table and dining chairs seen below demonstrate that excluding wood or metal from a design can sometimes make it even more striking.

It is clear to us that the future of design is vibrant and evolving. Whether you're looking to refresh your space or simply an enthusiast of beautiful interiors, there's never been a better time to explore what's new and exciting.

Which of these was your favorite? Could you see it in your own home? Reach out, and let’s see how we can help you incorporate these styles into your home.

Until next time,

Lori, Junior Designer at Justine Sterling Design
