Project Reveal: Elegant Interior Design in My Home Guest Bedroom

PS. iPhone pics and no photoshop work means that you get to see the “in progress” shot

You know what they say, the cobbler has worn-out shoes, and sometimes it takes a designer way too long to update just one small room. Case in point is my guest bedroom at home. It was a beautifully finished room, but my teenage daughter decided this old guest bedroom would make a far better bedroom for her, and finally, I acquiesced. Her old room needed new window treatments, and the walls needed painting, so we switched rooms, and now I have a newly painted guest bedroom (my home office, too) with pretty new roman blinds.

My Process & Project Scope

In the same way that I debate the best color for every room in a client’s home, this room was no different. I looked at paint color options in many different lights and finally settled on Benjamin Moore Classic Gray 1548, which is really more of a light stone color than a gray one.

The second significant change in this room was the window treatments which used to be outside mount Romans, but they hid the pretty window trim in the room. So to switch things up, I decided to do an inside mount roman which also takes less fabric.

I am a sucker for layered neutral textures in my home, and when I saw this Casamance "Week-End" fabric, it was the perfect blend of modern design meets laid back elegant texture in a piece of fabric. And I can share all of the details with you as this is not a client project, so scroll away! As with all of my client projects and my own home, I understand how important it is to invest in professionally made window treatments, and my trade workroom outdid themselves. We railroaded it (ran the fabric design vertically off the roll) to show the design more symmetrically.

Interior Design Revealed

All of the photos are iPhone snapshots, so excuse the candid shots. My desk side of the room still needs ALL of the art and pictures placed, but that will be another time, another day, and another blog ;-)

Am I happy with the results? Yes! Do I still have more details to complete in the room? Of course!

What's Next?

Thanks for tagging along on my guest bedroom mini-update! Let me know if you have any questions about the update. I am happy to share!

Warmly,

Justine
